Arusha - Feb 11, 1975 Dearest folks -- Here we are on our way to Tanga to retrieve our household goods. With any luck we should be back through here in 3 or 4 days, loaded to the gills. We left Stephanie at SRI with the MacNaughtons. It figures to be a very long, tiring, and boring trip so we figured Steph would be much happier there. Not much has happened since I last wrote from Nairobi. The trip back was not too uncomfortable although we were loaded to the gills, then, too. Half an hour out we broke a fan belt, but luckily Joe had just bought a spare; so we were on our way again within 20 minutes. In Nairobi we bought mostly food for the three families that live in the A&M houses. We came into Arusha yesterday and Joe had the new car worked on -- just routine work and looking at a couple of things. Since the SRI mechanics have only Landrovers to work on, Joe figures he's going to have to do a lot of preventive maintenance to keep it going. The weather here has been hot and dry. Even here in Arusha last night it was warm and Arusha is always _cold_ at night. I ame looking foreward to the "Long Rains" due in a month. Being away from SRI the first 1/2 of Feb. has turned out to be a pretty good thing. The water has been out the whole time. The concrete storage tank at the water's source collapsed and the Park's people are having to build another. Will write when box in hand (I hope) Love Jan
