art show and auction rules

1. Submission: Art can be submitted either through the mail or in person. We accept submissions up to the opening day of the convention, March 21, 2002. If you or your agent will be submitting artwork the opening day of AggieCon 33, please inform us of your approximate arrival time so your space can be reserved. Mail-ins must be accompanied by a return address, a container to return unsold artwork, and return postage. If you have any particular floor plan you would like us to use, enclose that as well. You should send your artwork to one of the following addresses:

All submissions should be original pieces. MSC Cepheid Variable will not be responsible for plagiarized artwork.

We request that you ship all mail-in artwork in time for it to be received by March 15, 2002. That will help process your paperwork quickly and ensure the show opens promptly on the first evening of the convention.

2. Print Shop: Art submitted to the print shop must be accompanied by a print shop control sheet and a price list. These prints will be displayed in a different section of the Art Show room to separate them from the other artwork.

3. Pricing: Works to be sold at the auction must include a minimum bid and a somewhat higher direct sale price. (Please remember that MSC Cepheid Variable will receive 12.5% of the final selling price as required by the Memorial Student Center.) All artwork that has three or more bids and has not sold at the direct sale price will go to auction. All artwork will be subject to sale prior to the auction if it is purchased at the higher direct sale price.

4. Charity Auction: There will be a charity auction for Scotty's House, a local child advocacy center for abused children. All artwork donations will be appreciated and will be returned if not sold. For more information about the charity auction, please contact us

5. Sales: Buyers at the auction will be registered with numbers and sales will be recorded to enable buyers to make one payment only. Immediate pick-up will be available for those who so desire, and other items may be paid for and picked up from the close of the auction until the Art Show closes at 2 pm on Sunday.

6. Pick-Up of Unsold Items: The artist or his/her agent may pick up unsold art on March 24, 2002, the last day of the convention. A copy of your control sheet will be required to ensure the right person is receiving the artwork. If you would like us to forward your artwork to another convention, be sure to include a shipping label, container, and postage. Otherwise, enclose any shipping provisions you want us to follow. Any submitted art with no provisions for return which is not picked up by April 30, 2002 will become property of MSC Cepheid Variable.

7. Payment Schedule: The checks should be out approximately four to six weeks after the convention. The MSC Accounting Office may take a little longer to process the checks, but we will do what we can to speed up the process. However, we will need your social security number to process your check, so make sure that you disclose the information on your control sheet or give us a phone number where we may obtain the information before the end of the convention.

8. Liability: AggieCon personnel, MSC Cepheid Variable, MSC employees, and all other approved workers will not be held personally responsible for damage to pieces submitted to the Art Show. However, we will do all that we can to make sure the artwork remains as safe as possible. Please try to pack mail-in art as securely as possible to prevent damage.
