GENE STARWIND Gene is an Outlaw, living outside society. He is young, brash, impetuous, and cocky. He knows what he wants, and will do anything to get it. He is frightened of space travel, but grits his teeth (and takes a drink) to endure his first space shot in years. He seeks vengeance for his father's death, and ultimately achieves it. He is loyal to his friends and overconfident. Gene's winning characteristic is not his intelligence but his determination and his heart, and he creates his own destiny.
