SCOLA History
In 1988, CAMAC hosted its first lecture series. Through
its formative years, the series developed into a day and a half
conference. In 1993, the conference underwent its first name change to the
Committee for the Awareness of Mexican-American Culture Conference.
In an attempt to better define the purpose of the conference, the name was
changed again in 1994 to the Southwest Student Conference On Latino
Affairs. With the continued success of the conference, a name change
was again necessary to embrace its growing national audience. With the
dawning of the new millennium, we are proud to present the Student
Conference On Latino Affairs.
