fajita rita's
Directions: Prices: Veggie-friendly? Notes --Bob Cason I'd like to recommend adding Fajita Rita's to your restaurant guide. It's something Bob the Tall and I have been jonesing for since we moved up to D/FW to wither and become elder godlings. You can eat cheaply - we always had the cheese enchiladas for $4.25 or I think it goes up to $10 or so for fajitas. Their margaritas are great - a pitcher will knock your socks off - and they are cheap, too. They have loads of free chips made fresh by the nifty vibrating machine and their hot sauce is warm and spicy. The ambiance is casual, lit mainly by neon signs and beer advertisements and there are festive wierd things stuck all over the place, including inflatable toys, enormous terra cotta pots, and mexican rugs. There are three or four tvs on all the time, great to catch sports on. They have a sunken main room and a raised bar and the wait is never more than about 15 minutes. It's on Texas Avenue, across from the Comfort Inn. The desserts are great and cheap - the sopapillas are great - get them to cut them into strips before they fry them. I think they also have fried ice cream. The restrooms are cozy and clean, the service friendly, and the owner frequently works during rush periods to make sure everything is going ok. Two people can eat for less than ten bucks, but plan on about fifteen to cover beverages and dessert. They have an outdoor patio and an indoor smoking area. Their beans and rice ROCK. --Kay Barrington |
